ISO 15612
Sometimes it can be difficult to justify doing your own welding procedure due to cost or simply that there is no time, the option to take the shortcut and buy a tested and approved one exists. The welding procedure is then qualified by ISO 15614 or ISO 15613 and is rewritten to ISO 15612. With the permission of the owner of the procedure and that a SWPS is made, the welding procedure can be transferred to a new manufacturer.
A SWPS is a standard WPS that is included when a procedure is purchased. The SWPS can be used directly in production or a WPS can be made and adapted to the own production.
Some restrictions exist in what can be written over to an ISO 15612, among other things, only thickness up to 50 mm and material groups 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 8.1, 11.1, 21, 22.1, 22.2 are allowed.
The product standard EN 1090 is fine to use an ISO 15612 in performance class 1,2 and even 3 (with the designer’s approval).
